LEIGH MP Jo Platt has extended her sympathies to the loved ones of a woman who was stabbed to death last night, Sunday.
Police were called by the ambulance service shortly before 8pm to a property on Manchester Road in Leigh.
A woman believed to be in her 40s, who has not yet been named, was found dead at the scene with stab wounds.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 37-year-old woman has been taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The incident comes just three weeks after 32-year-old dad-of-two Phillip Rooney was stabbed to death in the town at a house on Platt Street.

Ms Platt said: "Again we have heard of a tragic incident in Leigh last night.
"My thoughts, as always, are with friends and family of the woman who sadly died in such horrific circumstances.
"While enquiries at an early stage, I will be keeping in touch with Greater Manchester Police who have my full support to ensure that all that can be done to both seek justice and offer all the support needed to her family and anyone who witnessed the event, is being done."
A scene is in place on Manchester Road while a second scene is also in place on York Street.
