FROM this week onwards the Journal is including an old photograph in the paper showing Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley and surrounding areas from a different era.
This week’s picture, which comes courtesy of Wigan and Leigh Archives and Local Studies, captures Bradshawgate in Leigh town centre back in 1895.
The picture, which appears to show a view towards Railway Road, was snapped by R.Leigh 124 years ago.
The 19th century image features a bustling scene with people brimming outside a number of stores on the road.
Do you have an old photograph that you would like to share with us that you think would fit well on this page?
If you do, please email your picture to newsdesk@leighjournal.co.uk with your name, what the image shows and what year it was taken.
If you have any background information about the scene or any of your memories from the time you spent there please also include that in your email.
