VOLUNTEERS turned up in force on Saturday to give Leigh Cenotaph a spring clean.
Around 40 residents gathered at the Church Street Gardens war monument at 10.45am and spent just over an hour giving it a clean with equipment that was provided for volunteers.
They also picked up litter from the park area.

Organiser Paul Sargent arranged the event via his A.R.K Acts of Random Kindness community group.
He said: "Having watched the cenotaph through the winter months become dirtier by the day along with the litter dumping everywhere, I wanted to bring it back to the clean and respectful monument we've all come to admire.
"I'd like to offer my gratitude for everyone who donated their time to helping me.
"It was an amazing group effort by all."
Dootsons Solicitors on Church Street donated money for the cleaning materials.
