A NEW medical service centre has been officially unveiled.

A ceremony was held on Friday at Leigh Service Centre at Green Fold Way on Leigh Commerce Park where the ribbon was cut by MP Jo Platt.

The centre, which has more than 300 staff members employed there, will serve the operations of Alliance Healthcare, NWOS and Cavendish.

Around 100,000 units of supplies are picked by staff every day which equates to 8,200 daily orders.

Alliance Healthcare managing director Julian Mount, said: “This investment into an improved and modern site in Leigh is the next stage in our evolution to improve operational performance now and into the future.

“It is designed to not only support our current business needs, but also better meet the needs of our customers and their patients.”

A commemorative plaque was also laid at the event, which was attended by Wigan borough mayor, Cllr Sue Greensmith.

Jo Platt said: “It is an honour to have been involved in today’s proceedings and to officially welcome the team to the Leigh area.

“I am always supportive of the business community and I am proud to have been able to be a part of the event.”
