THE body of a man was found on train tracks near Atherton railway station yesterday morning, Easter Monday.
Police were called to the Upton Road station at 8.55am after reports of a casualty being discovered on the railway line.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Paramedics also attended however a 28-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind his death.
"His family have been informed.
"A file will be prepared for the coroner."
