A MEXICAN and Tex Mex deli is the latest eatery to open in Warrington Market’s food court.

Spicy Jack has started serving street food-style dishes such as burritos, fully loaded nachos and quesadillas.

Ranny Thind, who launched Spicy Jack Deli in 2014, said: “Our main menu is focused around three Mexican classics – burritos, quesadillas and homemade nachos.

“We serve these with barbecue pulled pork, spicy shredded chicken, chilli Mex – both meat and veg – of course served with all the toppings.

“We also have a varied specials menu which is ever changing and developing. If I was to ask my best customers, the signature dish would definitely be our barbecue pulled pork – we are always getting asked the recipe for this one!”

Ranny, whose blend of herbs and spices is a secret, came up with the idea for Spicy Jack when he was housebound for a year following a serious back operation and he started doing research into street food.

A family holiday to Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Chichén Itzá in Mexico then convinced him to leave his job as a quantity surveyor and take the plunge to run his own business.

Ranny, who commutes from Acre, near Rawtenstall, every day, added: “My daughter Jade and I started off serving from a gazebo at small markets and festivals, also serving Mexican food in my friend’s pub.

“After working our way up the ladder, we now own two street food trailers and have a permanent residence here in Warrington.

“I’m so happy that I was chosen to be part of Warrington Market’s future. With manager Paul Blaney’s enthusiasm and passion for the market it was really a done deal.

“But we will still be working at street food events across the north west.”

Many of the meals can also be adapted for vegetarians and vegans and there is a vegan special of deep fried fritters called vegano bunuelos.

Warrington Guardian:

Ranny said: “We have plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians.

“We offer a vegan chilli, veggie fritters, patatas bravas and house salads. Dependent on demand we will also be offering daily vegan and vegetarian specials.

“Most of our menu is gluten free and all of our menu is made from scratch so any queries can be answered by our staff.”

Spicy Jack Deli can be found in the food court next to Cafe at the End of the Universe where Singh’s Grillhouse used to be.
