RESIDENTS have been warned to be vigilant after a bogus workman has been stealing from elderly people.
Police have received a couple of reports from residents in the Astley and Tyldesley area where a man has been knocking on doors and asking to use the toilet.
When he has been allowed into an address he has been accused of taking items.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "We are visiting those affected this morning (Thursday) and will be starting an investigation.
"In the meantime please can those with elderly relatives in the Astley and Tyldesley areas speak to them to encourage them to refuse entry to anyone they don't know."
If you have any information contact police on 101.
