THIS photograph shows the dismantling of a railway bridge on Leigh Road in Howe Bridge.
It was taken on October 19, 1969.
The picture shows a crane and a locomotive rail vehicle being used to take apart the bridge.
The sides of the bridge had already been removed.
A crowd of people are gathered at the scene to watch the work being carried out.
Do you have an old photograph that you would like to share with us that you think would fit well on this page?
If you do, please email your picture to newsdesk@leighjournal.co.uk with your name, what the image shows and what year it was taken.
If you have any background information about the scene or any of your memories from the time you spent there please include that in your email.
We will consider using pictures taken in Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley and surrounding areas from a different era.
