TWO men have been released after a large amount of drugs and money were found after a car crashed into a telephone box following a pursuit.

Patrol officers spotted two men in a silver Ford Mondeo acting suspiciously on Westbourne Avenue in Leigh last Wednesday shortly before 10.30am.

They followed the car and requested for it to stop – but the driver sped up leading to a short pursuit.

The car then came to a stop on Kirkhall Lane where both the driver and the passenger attempted to make off on foot.

The car then crashed into a telephone box.

One of the men attempted to get out of the vehicle before the car had stopped moving and received injuries as a result.

Upon search of the vehicle officers found a large amount of drugs and cash.

It is also believed that the car was stolen.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and dangerous driving.

A 20-year-old man, who was arrested at the scene, has been bailed under investigation.

A 19-year-old man that was handcuffed near Atherleigh Way, has been released under investigation.
