A MAN has been handed a community order after causing unnecessary harm to a dog that suffered lameness.

Kieron Flynn, of Larch Road, Leigh admitted to the charge after failing to ensure veterinary care was provided for a rottweiler, Loki between February 18 and March 11.

The dog suffered lameness caused by an osteosarcoma, a form of cancer, of the left humerus.

Flynn, 26, has been ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work, pay costs of £500, and banned from keeping all animals for 10 years.

He was sentenced at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court yesterday, Tuesday.
