HOW would you feel if someone gave you £10 towards your shopping just to brighten up your day?

Well that is exactly what happened on Sunday when mum-of-five Nikki Pearson was shopping at Iceland in Haydock and three young girls approached her.

The 40-year-old from Parr said: "I just went in to get some stuff and three little girls came up to me and said they were giving me £10 towards my shopping in the hope that I would then do a good deed for somebody else in return.

"I just couldn't believe it. I've never been given money in my life and these little girls just did it.

"It was a nice surprise, the woman with them, Meghan, said they are trying to teach the children how to help others and I just thought it was wonderful and wanted to let everyone know.

"When I go to town next week, my plan is to pass it on to a homeless person, so through what they did they are helping that person too.

"I think if more people did stuff like this then the people of St Helens would be more happy."

Meghan Casey, 25, a nursery manager who runs the MesFunPlay term time group the girls were attending at St Mark's Church, Haydock, added: "We did a charity event and raised funds and asked the children how we could help others, this was just one idea of how to brighten up someone's day.

"Two of the girls are six and the other is 10, they should be very proud."
