A NEW cafe has been opened at Leigh Infirmary.

The shop at the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) site will be based at the main entrance at The Avenue.

In addition to hot food such as halloumi fries, chilli, pies and jacket potatoes, sandwiches, snacks, confectionery, newspapers and cold drinks are all available.

Seating for 30 customers has been installed too.

Staff give a round of applause as the cafe is officially opened

Project manager for the coffee shop Mike Watson said: “The new build is a credit to everyone involved, from the design team to the staff at Leigh who helped to contribute to the design and style of the shop.

“We have had some very positive feedback during the construction and I’m sure the shop will be a great success.

"The new outlet far exceeds anything that we have had at Leigh before.”

WWL’s charity, Three Wishes helped to support the renovation.

Three Wishes' fundraising manager Janet Pennington said: “It has been great to be able to support the creation of the new coffee shop with a £159,000 legacy, left to the charity specifically to be spent on Leigh Infirmary.”
