THE residents and staff from Reeve Court retirement village are celebrating after receiving an 'outstanding' rating by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The site, off Elton Head Road, provides care and support to people living in their own homes within the village complex.
Some people living in the village do not receive support and live independently.
Outstanding is the best possible mark given, and was awarded in the categories of leadership and effectiveness.
The report, which following a February inspection, said: “Staff provided excellent care and support that was given in a way people preferred.
"This resulted in consistent and positive outcomes that exceeded expectations. Staff worked hard to provide a consistently better quality of life for people, supporting them to develop in areas such as social interaction and independence.”
ExtraCare who own Reeve Court has been operating in St Helens since 2004. Reeve Court Village provide homes, care and an inspirational lifestyle to more than 250 older people living in apartments or bungalows and includes a range of facilities including a restaurant and café bar, village hall, fitness gym with spa pool and steam room, craft room, woodwork room, IT suite, hairdressing salon and library.
Regular activities which are open to both residents, volunteers and the wider community representing all ages may include: Tai chi, gym, cycling, model railways, choir singing, gardening and regular social events.
Steve Warburton, village manager at Reeve Court said: “We’re absolutely delighted to receive an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission. As a charity, we exist to create better lives for older people and are committed to raising the standards of care for our residents who need it. The result is a testament to our dedicated staff team who work tirelessly, they should be very proud.”
Emma Jones, head of care at Reeve Court added: “The staff and residents at Reeve Court are extremely happy to achieve an outstanding overall rating with the Care Quality Commission.
"This has been a combined effort for all staff involved to ensure we give the correct and quality support to our residents. The residents and family tell us how good we are and now it has been supported by CQC.”
