THE daughter of a pub landlord is calling for more to be done after youths have smashed windows, damaged her dad's car and vandalised the area over several months.

Suzanne Highcock whose family own The Union Inn on Hall Street, was "horrified" on Wednesday night around 9.15pm when a gang of teenagers, some of which she says were wearing pyjamas, smashed the windows of the pub while she was inside.

This isn't the first time they've been targeted though, with her dad recently getting rid of his car after having to pay to get it repaired so many times.

Suzanne, 30, said: "I just couldn't believe it the other night when three girls and a lad just threw bricks at the windows smashing them.

"This isn't the first time this has happened but it is getting really bad around here now.

"My dad has had to get his car fixed so many times because of damage by youths that he's decided to just get rid of it because it was more expensive getting it fixed all the time.

"I just think it's disgusting to be honest how anyone can do that to someone's property, if you think that's OK then clearly something isn't right with those people.

"The are terrorising the area to be honest, they are constantly vandalising things at Fosters Park.

"Realistically I would hope that parents would do something if they knew their children were involved, but I imagine many won't know."

Police have been informed and enquiries are underway.

Speaking about issues in the area, Community Inspector Neil Birkett said: “We have been made aware of incidents of antisocial behaviour in the Fosters Park area in recent months.

“We are monitoring the situation and dealing with the incidents but we need the public’s help in identifying those responsible.

“This type of behaviour is clearly not acceptable and I would ask anyone with information to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
