‘The Dashing Daddies of Kiplin’ is an intimate exhibition of family portraiture that showcases photographs and paintings from Kiplin’s 400-year-old history throughout Kiplin Hall, between June 15 and July 7.
Following in the footsteps of Maternal Love, The Dashing Daddies of Kiplin is the second of two exhibitions this year providing an informal insight into Kiplin family history. The exhibition reveals the fun and frolics of the Dashing Daddies of Kiplin.
Curator, Sarah Mayhew Craddock, sets the scene: “With 400 years of ownership across four family trees, there are many tales to tell at Kiplin.
“We’ve scoured historic family photo albums and sketch books to find images that reveal more to our visitors about the people and personalities that form Kiplin’s history. Visitors will spot framed photographs of father figures as they move from room to room around this fascinating Hall.”
The Tea Room at Kiplin Hall will also be open alongside the exhibition, serving delicious treats in hearty portions, perfect for a pit-stop.
Kiplin Hall is a unique Jacobean house and historic museum between Northallerton and Richmond, set in 100 acres of grounds. It enjoys a peaceful location with woodland, parkland, lakeside, and lawns. The house is filled with furniture, portraits, and personal belongings spanning its history since the 1620s.
Families can enjoy the grounds and walled garden, woodland and lakeside walks, outdoor games, ship adventure play area, and new zip wire.
Dashing Daddies opened on Saturday, June 15, and continues until Sunday, July 7.
Entry to Dashing Daddies is included in a Hall, Gardens and Grounds ticket - £10.50 adults; £9.50 concession; £5.50 child; under 5s free; £28.00 Family ticket. Seasonal passes are available.
Open Saturday to Wednesday, 10 am (Hall 11am) – 5pm (Closed Thursday and Friday)
Tea Room entry is free. Enjoy homemade seasonal specialities in the company of Kiplin’s ancestors - immortalised in oil paints on the walls - in Kiplin’s wonderful wood panelled Tea Room.
