KIND-HEARTED schoolchildren have held a series of events to help people living with dementia.
Year 5 pupils at Garswood Primary School have come in for high praise after raising more than £600 for a dementia café based at St Andrew’s Mission Hall and Alzheimer’s Society.
Their activities saw them take on flower arranging, art activities, music sessions, bingo, taking on a 7.1 mile sponsored walk to Carr Mill Dam where they planted forget me not seeds and a cake sale.
Cabinet member for developing young people, Cllr Sue Murphy, who is also chairman of Governors at the school, said: “The opportunity to chat to people affected by dementia has been extremely rewarding for the children who should be very proud of themselves for what they’ve achieved.
“Supporting our community is at the heart of all that we do. ”
