MP Margaret Greenwood is urging commuters to have their say on planned changes to a number of bus routes in Wirral.

Stagecoach are consulting on changes to the 1, 2, 22, 38, 41, 42 and X8 routes.

The company plans to revise the 22 route so that it no longer serves Arrowe Park Hospital or Moreton and will instead operate via Irby and Greasby through to West Kirby.

Other plans include removing Arrowe Park Hospital as a stop from the evening services of the 41 and 42 routes.

Stagecoach are running a public consultation on the proposals which closes this Monday (June 24) at 12pm.

Residents are invited to contribute to the consultation by completing a survey on the Merseytravel website:

Margaret Greenwood MP said: "I am concerned that the changes proposed by Stagecoach may result in some people being left without a direct bus route to Arrowe Park Hospital.

"It is really important that we protect local bus services because so many people rely on them. Buses are a lifeline to many people, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable.

"The loss of Avon Buses only last year had a profound impact on communities across Wirral.

"Under these proposals, many Wirral West residents may now have to rely on cars, taxis or lifts from family and friends to travel to the hospital.

"This is unfeasible for many, including those who are isolated and on low incomes. I would encourage anyone affected by these proposals to have your say by contributing to the public consultation.

"I would be grateful if Wirral West residents who are concerned about the changes could also get in touch with my office on 0151 792 3416 or by email margaret.greenwood.mp@parliament.uk so that I can build up a picture of the effect on residents."
