A CARE home opened officially opened a prayer room last week.

Bedford Care Home on Battersby Street in Leigh held an event where religious leaders came together to bless the room.

Father Colin Fealy from St Joseph's Church, Leigh Irfan Mohmed from Vernon Street Mosque and Father Robert Dixon from St Thomas and All Saints Church were involved in the ceremony.

Bedford Care Home manager Karen McGrady said: “We are committed to providing an opportunity for all residents and families of all faiths to have a place to pray or reflect.

"Person-centred care is the focus of everything we do at Bedford Care Home.”

The home is opening its doors for its annual summer fair where residents, families will be greeted by a visit from Hells Angels bikers.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event, which will host a range of stalls and facepainting for children.

The fair starts at 2pm when the bikers will arrive before a singer performs from 2.30pm for an hour.

It is set to finish at around 4.30pm.
