ST Gabriel’s Catholic Primary School in Higher Folds has won the School of the Year Award from the Archdiocese of Liverpool.

The school, based on Queensway, beat off competition from more than 200 schools and colleges.

It has been recognised for priding itself on its core Christian values and continues to be rated as “good” by education watchdog Ofsted.

Children’s performances in class has led to results which has placed the school in the top 10 per cent in the country.

Another mark of the school’s progress is outlined from the fact it received nominations for two other accolades, Inclusion and Governing Body of the Year.
