THIS photograph shows workers at Parsonage Colliery in Leigh.

The picture shows men who were employed at the site with the headgear in the background.

It was taken on November 9, 1929.

The colliery was sunk between 1913 and 1920 and the first coal was wound to the surface in 1921.

The coal mine was closed in 1992.
