A LEIGH woman has been given a 16-week jail sentence after throwing an alkaline substance in the face of a shop assistant.
Lisa Joanne Lock, of Carlyle Grove, Leigh, pleaded guilty at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court to the assault which took place on January 24.
Lock, 41, threw the substance into the face of a woman shop assistant which resulted in her needing medical attention.
As well as the 16-week sentence, Lock was also made to pay compensation of £150.
