A GREYHOUND rescue home held its third Family Fun Day and Dog Show.

Makants Greyhound Rescue NW, in Tyldesley held the well-attended show at Astley Street Park, which raised vital funds for the greyhounds in their care.

There were many fundraising stalls including a cake and refreshments stall, games and items for sale.

The dog show was distinctive in that it had two show rings - one for greyhounds or sighthounds, the other for any other breeds.

The best in show on the day in the greyhound or sighthound ring was LUKA, a Borzoi owned by Karen, and in the Any Other Breed ring NOOLA was the best in show, owned by Atlanta.

Judges attended from the Horwich Pets at Home store.

The rescue, on Mort Lane in Tyldesley, has homed more than 340 ex-racing greyhounds and is entirely reliant on donations to fund their vital work.

Siobhan Hoppley, founder of the rescue, said: "I'd like to send a massive thank you to everyone who supported us on the day and also send special thanks to our amazing team of volunteers who really did the rescue proud.

"We are also grateful to have fantastic support from the local community and many local businesses."

The rescue are always looking for volunteers for their walking, crafting or fundraising teams and anyone who would like to volunteer can contact info@makantsgreyhounds.co.uk or visit their Facebook page.
