PLANS for a car park next to playing fields used by junior football teams aiming to ease congestion at weekends have been approved.
A planning application was submitted for the creation of car park and also the installation of three storage containers to be used in connection with Leigh Folds Football Club at Higher Folds Community Centre on Stirling Close.
The application states how the community centre leases the Queensway Playing Fields, which is used for boys and girls junior football teams.
The proposals add: "The planning application is to overcome two issues: parents parking on Queeensway at weekends causing congestion (and) no storage for equipment next to the pitches.
"The work planned is: create a car park running parallel to Queensway within the boundary of the playing fields (and) install three containers to store equipment on site".
Planning officers at the council gave the proposals the nod.
