A GROUP of sporting superstars from New Brighton Gymnastics Club have returned home with six world champions.

Gymnasts from the New Brighton group returned victorious after attending the International Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs' World Championships in Nashville earlier this month.

The club returned with six All Around World Champions and also brought home World Champion Team Copper 1 level and placed second in the Copper 2 team competition.

It was the first time competing in an international competition for 10 of the 17 gymnasts.

Head coach Steph Rimmer said: "Myself and all the coaches are very proud of all the gymnasts achievements."

At the competition, the Wirral gymnasts were complimented on their conduct.

Now the group will focus on the national championships held in October in Milton Keynes plus the qualifiers for next year's championships.

In a statement, the club said: "As a club we would like to express our gratitude to the local community, club members and families for assisting with the fundraising prior to the trip.

"The costs for competing in a competition like this is immense and without the support we have received we would never be able to make these children’s dreams come true."
