THE number of vehicles stolen in Atherton has shot up by 84 per cent in the last two years.
Figures from a Freedom of Information Request submitted by the Journal found that there were 37 vehicles taken in the town between June 1, 2016 to May, 31, 2017.
But between June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019, that number has risen to 68.
Car thefts have reduced in the past year in the Leigh East and Leigh West areas while that statistic has remained the same in that period in Leigh South.
