HUNDREDS of votes were cast and now The Bolton News can reveal Bolton Favourite Restaurant.

The Bolton News:

The Cherry Tree at Blackrod is the first recipient of this first ever award run by The Bolton News in conjunction with Bolton Council.

The Bolton News:

The award was launched to celebrate this year's Bolton Food and Drink Festival.

We asked our readers to nominate their favourite places to eat in the borough and it seems the classic British menu with modern twists has won over the public.

The Cherry Tree beat some of Bolton’s most extraordinary eateries to the punch to be announced the winner at the special launch of this year's festival.

The family owned restaurant and bar concentrate on delivering a contemporary take on classic dishes, amongst the swathes of the Lancashire countryside.

Restaurant director, Tom Taylor, expressed his elation at the news.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted! We have been wanting to achieve something like this for a while and have been working hard for it.

“It is a credit to our team who have worked so hard to get it and we just want to say thank you to all our loyal customers.

“I think this will be huge for us, as more people will now be aware of what we do and will want a taste of Bolton’s favourite restaurant.

“Our aim as a restaurant is to grow what we have been doing over the last nine years and to expand the restaurant.

“It’s exciting for us all to see where the award takes us.”

The Cherry Tree at Blackrod makes the most of its rural surroundings, using only the freshest local Lancashire produce.

The Bolton News:

Continuing the celebrations, the gastropub is set to hold their own bash to congratulate their hard-working staff – as well as launching a new ‘Best of British’ menu to mark the well-deserved win.

Tom continued: “It’s the perfect way to celebrate being Bolton’s favourite restaurant!”

The rustic restaurant continues to go from strength to strength and is set to be refurbished in January 2020.

The award showcased the large number of restaurants in Bolton enjoyed by the public further cementing the town's growing reputation as a popular food and drink destination.

Karl Holbrook, editor-in-chief, said: "We received hundreds of votes for dozens of restaurants throughout the borough.

"A huge congratulations goes to The Cherry Tree at Blackrod."
