SUPERMARKET Morrisons is offering free meeting spaces to community groups at its cafe in Leigh.

Groups can book tables, which can seat up to 20 people, through the Sale Way store's community champion.

New parents, charities, book clubs, craft groups and gaming communities will be able to meet there.

The scheme was set up to help community groups deal with the increasing cost of booking meeting spaces in centres after its research found meeting spaces can cost to to to £20 an hour.

Head of cafes at Morrisons, Helen Tordoff, said: “We’ve seen more groups use our café spaces as meet up areas so we’re delighted to formalise the offering and make it even easier for local communities to come together over a cup of tea and great food.”

Meet up areas will be available at the store's cafe between 9am until 11am and 2pm until café closing every weekday.

To book a meet up area slot, groups can email the community champion at champion.leigh@morrisonsplc.co.uk.

Bookings will be taken on a first come first serve basis.
