A FABRIC store in Atherton has made the shortlist of MP Chris Green's Best Local Shop Competition.

The Bolton West and Atherton representative asked his constituents to vote for their favourite best local shop.

And Hey Ho Let's Sew on Church Street is among the four stores on the shortlist that attracted the most votes.

Ruby Rose Clothing in Horwich, Arm Candi in Westhoughton and Oaklands Nursery in Chequerbent are the other three shops on the shortlist.

People will now be able to select their favourite store from the four before the deadline of midnight on Sunday, September 8.

The shop is run by Rachael Flaszczak and Joanne Hazeldine.

Rachael said: "We’re really excited to be in the final four as we’ve worked really hard to get the shop recognised as an important part of our community.

"And with this nomination from the local community of Atherton and Bolton West we now feel as if the hard work has been recognised.

"We are so grateful that our customers and friends support us.

"We get a lot of people saying they’re so glad we’re still open as there is no other shop like us for miles, so to be nominated we really feel we’re making people happy in Atherton."

The winner of the contest will be forward as the constituency's nomination for the national "Best Small Shop" competition, which is run by Indie Retail.

A Parliamentary reception will be held for the event.

In addition, the winner will be invited on to Bolton FM to talk about their shop and its success and also receive a bottle of champagne donated by the Federation of Small Businesses.

Mr Green said: “I received just under 600 nominations from people across the constituency for a wide variety of shops and it was fantastic to read so many of the wonderful comments about these shops and their place on our local high street.

“The final four were chosen based on the number of nominations they received, along with the positive comments constituents made about the services or products they offer.

“I look forward to finding out who my constituents choose as Bolton West and Atherton’s Best Local Shop in the coming weeks.”
