THIS picture shows the Leigh Jubilee Carnival Procession that celebrated the 50th anniversary of Leigh Municipal Borough from 1899 to 1949.
Carnival floats, girls taking part in the parade and spectators are captured in the photograph.
In 1974, the municipal borough was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972 and its former area was transferred to Greater Manchester to be combined with others to form Wigan borough.
