A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a crash between two cars today, Friday.

The collision happened at the junction of King Street and Spinning Jenny Way in Leigh at around 11.55am where a woman became trapped.

Two fire engines, a technical rescue unit and a support vehicle were called to the scene and crews managed to free the woman without using cutting equipment.

After an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle arrived, paramedics treated the woman before she was taken to hospital.

Fire services were there for around 45 minutes before making the area safe.

Police were also in attendance.
