CHILDREN have enjoyed a taste of life in other European countries without even leaving the classroom.
A 'European Day' has been held at St Mary's School in Newtown to give pupils the chance to learn more about different countries such as Poland, France, Spain and Germany.
As well as face painting and dressing up in clothing traditionally worn in each country, pupils also sampled popular cuisine from the same nations.
The school's learning support assistant Sian Phillips said: "The pupils have taken part in language games, sampled food from each country.
"They are all very excited, it's an opportunity for them to do something a bit different while still learning."
