A MORRIS dancing troupe are celebrating after scooping 13 trophies at an annual championships.

Olbany Stars, based in Leigh, won a raft of accolades at Pontins Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park's end of season championships.

The seniors, who are aged 16 and over, were awarded troupe of the year, mascot of the year as well as leader and mascot on the day. They also finished runners-up in the bronze section.

Nine to 12-year-olds, the Tinies group, finished third in the bronze section.

The Dinkies, aged from six to nine, picked up dancer of the year, mascot of the year, mascot on the day and came second in the bronze title.

The tots, who are aged two and over, won the marching competition and dancer of the year.

One of the parents of the morris dancers also won a supporter marching competition.

The group has just started its new season and is welcoming new and old dancers.

It is suitable for all ages from the age of two.

They train at the Tamar pub on Wigan Road in Leigh on Tuesdays from 5pm.

The first session is free with it costing £3.50 per person afterwards.
