A MAN has been charged in connection with a drugs conspiracy believed to be worth billions of pounds.

Sean Sherwood, of Railway Street, Hindley was charged this morning, Friday, with two counts of conspiracy to import class A and two counts of conspiracy to import Class B drugs.

The 36-year-old has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today.

He is the fifteenth man to be charged in connection with the conspiracy.

A 29-year-old man from St Helens has also been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today after being charged with conspiracy to supply class A and class B drugs.

Meanwhile, 13 men charged with the importation of class A and B drugs, as part of a National Crime Agency investigation into the drugs plot, appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Thursday.

An organised crime group is believed to be responsible for importing more than 50 tonnes of drugs worth billions of pounds into the UK from the Netherlands.

It has been described as the UK's biggest ever drugs racket.
