AN entrepreneur keen on celebrating women in business has been announced as vice president of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
The first duty Nichola Howard, from Atherton, will carry out in her new job will be taking the helm of the 2019 Wigan Business Expo.
The event will be held at the DW Stadium on Wednesday, November 13.
Nichola, who is the founder of Atherton-based Launch Events North West, will be championing business in the borough – in particular, her interests of women in business and local companies working together.
Nichola will be judging Wigan Business Awards and will be including Wigan’s female networking group, Fubhub, in the Expo, where the group will be hosting networking sessions throughout the event.

Nichola said: ”I am delighted to be in a strong position to support my fellow local businesses and am looking forward to providing a strong voice for Chamber members in Wigan and Leigh together with Phil Eckersley, the current local president.
"I will also be working closely with the Wigan Council to make positive changes in the area.
“I founded Launch Events North West as I strongly believe that great business is based on relationships and wanting to support each other - so it is great to be able to do this on a regional basis through my role as vice president.”
Launch Events North West specialises in helping businesses find new customers through events and creative media and has worked collaboratively with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce for the last six years.
Regional manager for Bolton and Wigan at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Diane Elebert-Morgan added: “We are excited that Nichola will be taking on this new regional role. "Nichola has been a proactive member of the Wigan and Leigh business community for more than six years and we know she will be supportive of businesses in the borough to help them thrive.”
