A CAUSE that helps people in need of help has been handed £14,688 from a community investment scheme.
The Homeless Support Project, on Charles Street in Leigh, has been given the grant from Jigsaw Home's foundation.
The organisation provides a safe environment for people who are homeless or living in poverty and offers hot meals, volunteering, educational and employment opportunities.
There have been 27 projects in the foundation's Adactus Housing Association and Beech Housing neighbourhood that have benefitted from a total of £144,000 since April.
The Wigan Youth Zone was awarded £25,000 to offer a range of targeted services to young people in the area including counselling, mentoring, employability and enterprise programmes, days out and holiday clubs.
Wigan and Leigh Young Carers also received £4,170 to provide counselling and therapy sessions for young carers and a three-night break to give them respite and help break down isolation and loneliness in these young people.

Jigsaw foundation manager Sarah Keenan said: “I am so happy that these projects have been successfully selected by our residents who participate in Jigsaw Rewards.
"Our foundation is the group’s approach to community investment and funds local projects and organisations that can demonstrate a commitment to the community and support the delivery of our corporate values and goals.”
Applications for funding next year for Adactus and Beech residents will open early in 2020.
