THE Welsh Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Montgomeryshire, Kishan Devani, paid a visit to the local Mosque in Newtown.
During his visit he met with and addressed the Muslim Community from all over Montgomeryshire who visit the Mosque every Friday.
Speaking after their Friday Prayers he reiterated his commitment to all the different communities living in Montgomeryshire and spoke of how well Syrian Refugee families have been integrated into local life across communities in Powys, which he noted as an achievement to be celebrated and a successful model for other rural communities.
Mohammed Somir, one of the main Community Leaders and founders of the Mosque, said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome Mr Devani to our Mosque.
"We enjoyed hosting him and were very interested in what he had to say and as a community, appreciated him taking the time and effort in coming to speak to our community.”
Kishan Devani, who is an ambassador to the Religious Council of England and Wales, has continually campaigned against racism and as an advisor to the Unity of Faith Foundations, has worked on numerous initiatives to promote dialogue and understanding between the various religious communities within the UK.
