HUNDREDS of tins and packets of food were taken to Christ Church Pennington for a harvest thanksgiving service in aid of Atherton and Leigh Foodbank.
There was music from a harvest samba to a John Rutter chorus piece provided by the church choir, children, brownies and rainbows.
Children also read, prayed and gave the announcements, helped by youth worker Wiremu Kingi and vicar Alan Saunders.
An apple tree was planted to mark the occasion, which celebrated Christ Church Pennington CE Primary School's 150th anniversary.
Head teacher Clair Hill and Rev Saunders planted the tree with children taking turns to add soil around the new sapling.
The ceremony was also dedicated to teaching assistant Tracey Larner, who passed away recently.
At the end of the programme there were pasties and drinks on offer.

Rev Saunders described how amazed he is at the vision of the pioneers at the church who founded the school when the church was only 14 years old.
Speaking after the event, he said: βIt was brilliant as always to welcome the school into our church, which is of course their church too.
"We trust that as the apple tree grows and flourishes, this generation of children will grow into mature and caring young adults who can be an asset to our community.β
