James has a passion for seasonal local produce food and showcasing their ingredients.

Style of food: Modern British cooked in a classical syle, sourced from local family businesses. We pride ourselves in using seasonal produce and locally foraged hedgerow ingredients where available.

Mains feature pan roasted cod, garlic potato puree with a shellfish bisque (£16.59); slow braised beef with smoked new potatoes, kidney pudding and seasonal vegetables (£16.50); butternut squash and grain risotto (£12.95); fish and chips (£12.95); Queens Burger, topped with crispy smoked bacon, mature Cumberland cheddar, lettuce, tomato, dill pickle and spicy tomato chutney (£13). There is also a butcher’s steak of the week which is featured on the chalk board for this week’s cut of meat.

Desserts include peanut butter parfait, crumble of the day, homemade plum and ginger trifle (all at £6.25) and a selection of local cheeses (£7.50).

There is a menu for younger diners, including sausage and mash (£6) and Mac n cheese (£5) as well as half portions from the main menu (£7.95).

We have Tapas Tuesdays (dishes £3.55 or £4.35 or six for £18.50) and curry night on Mondays with a curry, rice and poppadoms for £9.50 or two for £16. Our Christmas Day menu offers four courses, plus coffee and mince pies at £60.25 per adult and £30 per child.
