ANYONE watching ITV show The X Factor: Celebrity tomorrow night, Saturday, will be able to see Asda's new Christmas advert for the first time.

Back in September the supermarket giant sent a film crew to Tyldesley for a week to capture footage for its 2019 festive advert.

School Street was lit up with Christmas trees and the crew used Tyldesley Little Theatre's base to film some of the indoor scenes.

This year, Asda's advert tells the story of two children who spread Christmas magic throughout a village.

The advert will appear in a teaser during ITV's weather coverage this evening, Friday.

The exposure of Tyldesley to national screens represents a turnaround in festive fortunes for the town.

Only three years ago in 2016, Tyldesley was reported to have the worst Christmas tree in the country, which was on display at Market Square.
