SHOPPERS are invited to decorate rocks with poppies for Remembrance Sunday at Spinning Gate Shopping Centre.
To honour those who lost their lives in the First World War, the Leigh shopping entre have put together a unique event.
The 'remembrance rocks' will be painted by shoppers with the hope that they will then take them to a war memorial and leave them there as a sign of respect.
On Saturday, November 9, between 11am and 3pm, shoppers are invited to decorate a rock with poppies for Remembrance Sunday, on Sunday, November 10.
The centre will provide shoppers with rocks and materials to decorate them.
Once decorated, shoppers are invited to leave their rocks at their nearest war memorial to commemorate those who lost their lives.
Throughout this week, Spinning Gate Shopping Centre are hosting a week long poppy appeal by the Royal British Legion, enabling shoppers to purchase their poppies in centre between 9.30am and 4.30pm.
Traditional lapel poppies, large lapel poppies, poppy pin badges, poppy crosses and poppy tributes will all be on offer with the proceeds going direct to the Royal British Legion.
Karen Cox, Centre Manager at Spinning Gate Shopping Centre said: “Spinning Gate is a proud supporter of the Poppy Appeal and are delighted to welcome the return of the Royal British Legion to the centre to sell their poppy's which are proudly worn by millions people.
"We provided the free rock decorating session for the first time last year and it was hugely popular, with shoppers of all ages stopping to decorate a rock.
"The poppy is a symbol of remembrance and hope and we thought it fitting once again to provide lasting tributes with the decorated rocks to lay alongside war memorials."
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all the centres events, however all ages and availabilities are welcome to join in.
