A MAN was found not guilty of causing the death of a grandmother by careless driving after a trial last week.
Alice Berry, 80, was crossing Leigh Road in Leigh on Sunday, June 3, 2018 when she was hit by a Citroen Picasso.
She was taken to hospital with serious head injuries but sadly died.
Jamie Hawkins, of Essex Place, Tyldesley was subsequently charged with causing Alice's death by driving without due care and attention.
A trial began at Bolton Crown Court on Monday, November 4 and the 37-year-old was cleared of the charge three days later on Thursday, November 7.

In a statement following Alice's death, her family said: “She was the best mother and grandmother anyone could have.
“She was loved by all and a friend to many.
"She will be sadly missed by us all."
