"Everyone was really getting into the spirit!"

Fairground rides provided plenty of fun for families too.

Fireworks were set off at 7pm to signal the end of the joyous occasion.

The Mayor of Wigan borough, Cllr Steve Dawber, who was on stage at the event, said: “The Christmas show in Leigh was once again a fantastic success with Civic Square packed to the rafters for hours.

“The night saw some amazing talent on stage and was rounded off with an eye-catching firework display.

“Thanks to everyone who attended and braved the cold to make it another year to remember, we hope to see you again next year."
