THIS picture shows residents celebrating a V-J Day street party on Linden Avenue in Atherton.
The photograph was taken on August 18, 1945.
Victory in Japan Day, known as V-J Day, took place on August 15,1945 and went down in history for being the day that Japan surrendered to allied forces, effectively ending the Second World War.
The image shows people gathered around a long table to mark the occasion.
