A COUNTY lines drug dealer has been jailed after being caught in the act by police.

Abdul-Azhiz Kamara, 26, was arrested numerous times – including in Weymouth and Dorchester – in connection with drug dealing.

At around 1.20am on Friday March 8 2019, police stopped a Ford Focus near Radipole Park Drive in Weymouth.

Kamara was in the passenger seat. Officers found a wrap of crack cocaine on him and two tablets marked ‘Xanax’, as well as more than £1,100 in cash.

A phone was found to contain messages that appeared to relate to drug dealing.

Five days later he was stopped in Poole as a passenger in a VW Golf, and found in possession of a large quantity of cash. Heroin and crack cocaine were found in the vehicle.

On Saturday May 4 officers saw Kamara with a known drug user at Wessex Road, Dorchester. Kamara discarded items from his pocket and fled.

Officers gave chase but lost Kamara and returned to the scene to find around 50 wraps of heroin.

At around 6pm on Tuesday July 2 officers were patrolling on Weymouth's Rodwell Trail. They saw the defendant sitting on a bicycle with a number of suspected drug users around him.

Kamara rode away but fell off the bike and continued on foot. Police caught him with help from residents who saw Kamara heading into Portmore Gardens.

He was found in possession of five wraps of heroin and cocaine, three mobile phones and two SIM cards. Another 60 wraps were found in a nearby garden.

The total street value of the drugs is estimated to be over £1,400. The phones contained ‘broadcast’ messages sent to more than 70 numbers apparently advertising drugs for sale.

Kamara, of Camberwell New Road, London, admitted at Bournemouth Crown Court two offences of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and six counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

He was also sentenced for breaching a suspended sentence order and given a total jail term of five years and two months.

Detective Constable Declan Cummings of Weymouth CID, said: “It is clear Abdul-Azhiz Kamara was involved in a significant ‘county line’ operation where he handled dedicated mobile phone lines.

“Despite being arrested on a number of occasions he continued to conduct his operations and I am glad we were able to catch Kamara in the act and bring him to justice."
