A SCOOTER was spotted 'zipping' around the backstreets, causing a nuisance to irritated residents.

The police were called to reports of the scooter speeding around streets in Horwich on Friday afternoon.

Police began searching for the offending vehicle and later discovered the bike unattended in Horwich.

Police revealed that the scooter was operating on false plates, with no insurance, tax or MOT.

GMP Traffic officers seized the bike, posting a picture of the bike on Twitter, saying: "This scooter was reported by residents zipping round the back streets in #Horwich.

"It’s not a stolen but is on false plates.

"It’s now seized."
