TEAMS from Knutsford Squash Club went head to head this week.

The men's seconds squared up with the thirds in Division Three South East, while the fourths faced the sixths in Division Four.

In the Division Three match, Dave Waring overcame Greg Marshall in five games at #1 despite losing the opening two games.

Pete Ceuppens showed no mercy against Dave O’Brien at #2 and cut him down in three games.

Graham Woods took out Andy Ryder in four at #3 despite some close games.

Mark Strefford made hard work of beating Will McLeod and scraped through in the fifth 13-11.

Finally, in a very close match at #5, John Burke got the better of Neil Howarth in five games.

A 20-7 victory puts the seconds firmly back in second place in Division Three South East after Alsager suffered a heavy loss.

The thirds are further down the table but a long way off the dreaded drop zone.

In the Division Four match Tim Slater lived up to his pre-match billing and took Dave Smith out in three games at #1.

Simon Hopkinson withdrew injured at #2, gifting Paul Aspinall a 3-2 win for the sixths.

A resurgent Mike Sharman made hard work of beating Graham Hunter, but managed it in four games playing at #3.

Tony Hindley took a straightforward 3-0 win over Matt Roberts at #4.

Finally at #5, Andy Keeble prevailed in five games over Ian Hopkins to make it two games for the sixths.

An 18-7 win to the fourths on the night keeps them mid-table and out of any danger, whereas the sixths are languishing towards the bottom of the division.
