ARSONISTS set fire to a sports club in Great Sankey last night.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Eagle Sports and Social Club, off Thornton Road, shortly before 6pm yesterday, Wednesday.
One fire engine attended the scene, with a blaze having been started in the club’s changing rooms.
The fire was out by the time crews arrived, although it is believed to have been started deliberately.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing youths starting a fire on the roof of the building.
Only minor damage was caused, and the social club remains open as usual.
