WARRINGTON Golf Club’s environmental work has earned them a big prize.
After winning Environmental Golf Course of the Year award at the 2020 Golf Environment Awards, some of the course team will now enjoy a trip to Portugal as their prize.
Warrington course manager John McLoughlin and his team have introduced numerous projects including honey bee hives and wildflower areas and the composting of all the green waste and debris from the course as well as large amounts of paper, cardboard and vegetable peelings from the clubhouse.

McLoughlin commented: “What a fantastic week and well done to all of the team for raising the bar!”
A spokesperson for the SRTI Group who hosted the awards said Warrington GC was “the cream of the crop” in terms of being ecologically diverse.
“If you are looking for a golf course that has consistently shown innovative and direct solutions in reducing damaging environmental practices, then Warrington is the cream of the crop,” they said.
“From developing a team of experts, Warrington has shown a course that can be sustainable in relation to inputs, environmental impacts and water usage whilst also being ecologically diverse.”
