RESIDENTS have been left without water after a water main burst this morning.

Homeowners in the WA4 postcode have been affected after a pipe burst at the junction of Knutsford Road and Marlfield Road in Grappenhall.

One lane of the A50 heading in the direction of Warrington is closed as a result.

The problem was reported at around 6am today, Monday, with some residents having no water and others having severely reduced pressure.

Discolouration of water has also been reported.

Warrington Guardian:

Works to fix the leak are set to continue into this evening.

A United Utilities spokesman said: "We’ve now turned off your water supply to prevent any more water being wasted and to allow us to fix the leak on the water pipe.

"Our engineers are still busy repairing the burst water main.

"Unfortunately, due to the complex nature of the repair, work will be ongoing throughout the course of the afternoon.

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience - we’ll provide further updates once the repair has been completed."
