LEIGH MP James Grundy has apologised after a video emerged of him exposing himself in a pub before he served in public office.

The politician made history in December by becoming the first Conservative MP to represent Leigh.

But only two months after his victory a video from 2007 has surfaced of him dropping his trousers in the Rams Head Inn in Lowton and exposing himself in front of a group of women aged over 18.

In the video, a woman tells him to lift his shirt up to expose himself, which he does.

Mr Grundy can also be heard telling the person recording that there is “no way” his face could be included in the footage.

The incident happened only months before he was elected as a Lowton East councillor, a ward he still serves.

On the same night, Mr Grundy, who was in his late 20s at the time, was also captured on video in the pub singing Adam and the Ants' Stand And Deliver and Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer.

In response to the video, Mr Grundy said: “I apologise for my actions and for any offence caused.”

It is understood the Conservative Party view the incident as a private event with all present aged 18 or over.

The party also added that the incident happened before James Grundy was a representative in public office.
